all of what the socialist platform seeks to accomplish could have been bought and paid for already with the vast amount of money misappropriated and lost within our government.
Expecting others to pay their fair share in taxes is without question. and yes, a taxing government has a responsibility to take care of the tax payers. but to what extent? it is all proportional, meaning that this can be expected no matter what the actual dollar amount required by our government. so to say that this can all be upheld with a decreased tax rate due to a decrease in departments of government. "the cake" will decrease in size and limit the ability for corruption or unnecessary government spending to take place.
seeing as how in 2008, the federal reserve was grilled by congress for losing 2.5 trillion dollars, 8 years of war later, we find that the pentagon lost 6 trillion dollars, one can assume the amount spent for war in between this time. this undoubtedly puts the dollar amount well over 10 trillion dollars. which undoubtedly could be better used in the citizens pocket over these times of economic crisis. not to mention that my calculations put the cost of solar panels to meet 2013 demand for energy consumption thru-ought the world could have been surmounted.
this is of course not saying that such a feat would be accomplished had government not taken this money in the first place. but going along with previous administrations and statistics, government will NEVER accomplish such a feat.
and there in lies the dilemma, it takes government to provide great works, though we have seen that it is somewhat incapable of avoiding military spending to a large degree, as well as putting this money towards a greater good.

so i see the logic in the shared views of sanders' cause, all this money is being spent one way or another, mandating its expenditures provide services and benefits to the people is a reasonable suggestion. though it is entirely understandable given our governments history as to why some feel that this is putting even more faith tax dollars into this same entity.
